Biography in Bengali basically refers to the first life of the poet and his literary works.

Because he lived only 40 years and because of his rhythm is still alive with us in this short time.

Satyendranath Dutta Biography in Bengali:

Satyendranath Dutta was a renowned Bengali poet who was revered as a wizard of rhyme. His expertise spans various branches of intellectual inquiry such as mythology, culture and medieval Indian history.

He was also the first poet to use Persian and Arabic words in poetry which increased the versatility of the Bengali language.

He also worked on translations of French, English, Japanese, Chinese, Persian and Arabic poetry to provide Bengali readers with a taste of foreign poetry and meter.

His contribution to bridging the gap between Bengali and world literature is commendable.

Satyendranath Dutt's Early Life:

Satyendranath Dutta was born on 11 February 1882 in Nimta in North Twenty-four Parganas district of West Bengal and was a businessman by profession to Rajninath Dutta. His father was a resident of Chupi village in Burdwan.

His grandfather Akshay Kumar Dutta was a prominent Brahmo social reformer and writer. He was also the guiding spirit of Tattvabodhini magazine.

Satyendranath Dutt completed his schooling from the Central Collegiate School in 1899 and joined the General Assembly's institution, now known as the General Scottish Church College, in Calcutta for graduation.

Although he left the institute before completing his course, his training at the institute helped him immensely in his future endeavours.

He later joined his family business to assist his father but soon left it to devote himself fully to scholarly work.

Literary Works of Satyendranath Dutt:

Satyendranath Dutta began his literary career by composing poems for a Bengali magazine called Bharati. His early style of writing reflected the influence of earlier noted poets like Devendranath Sen, Akshay Kumar Boral and Michael Madhusudan Dutta.

At a later stage his compositions were inspired by the poetry of Rabindranath Tagore. But despite this, the poet has successfully composed his individual poems. Satyendranath Dutta wrote under several pseudonyms such as Kalamgir, Tribrikram Burman, Ashitip Sharma, Kabiratna and Navakumar.

His sound skills were highly appreciated as he created numerous meters keeping the sound system and phrasing intact in Bengali. For this reason he was also considered the King of Meters or the Magician of Metrics.

In 1918 Bharti published his famous essay titled Baisakhi Number Chanda-Sarasvati in Metrics. His poems often revolved around themes such as power worship, tradition, humanism and patriotism.

His compositions were also based on the lower classes of society, including the sweep procession. A street in South Kolkata is named after him in honor of his cherished literary works.

Death of Satyendranath Dutta:

Satyendranath Dutt died on 25 June 1922 at the age of 40. After his death, the "Great Poet" was immortalized in a poem written by Rabindranath Tagore.
