The One Day International (ODI) format of cricket is one of the most popular formats in the world. There are many players who have managed to score more runs in this format than others.

Amongst these are some of the greatest batsmen in the game. From Sachin Tendulkar to Rahul Dravid, these players have achieved amazing records with their bat and will be remembered by cricket fans across the globe for years to come.

1. Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar is the most prolific batsman in the history of international cricket. He holds almost every batting record imaginable, including the most runs, tons and fifty-plus scores in all formats.

He is also the most successful one-day international batsman of all time, scoring 18,426 runs in 463 matches. That’s about 5000 more than the next best figure.

2. Kumar Sangakkara

Kumar Sangakkara is arguably one of the best cricketers to ever play the game. He has a number of records to his name that make him an icon of cricket.

He is also a cricket commentator, a business tycoon and an ICC Hall of Fame inductee. He is a former captain of the Sri Lankan national cricket team in all formats.

3. Virat Kohli

One of India’s finest batsmen, Virat Kohli has carved a niche for himself across all formats. He is known for his tenacity and ability to make jaw-dropping chases.

With a work ethic that matches that of Sachin Tendulkar, Kohli has become one of the best ODI players in the world. He has scored over 13000 runs in the format and is well on his way to becoming one of the greatest cricketers of all time.

4. Jacques Kallis

Jacques Kallis was one of the greatest all-rounders in the history of international cricket. He scored more than 10,000 runs and took 250 wickets in ODIs and Test match cricket, making him a modern-day colossus.

He also holds the distinction of becoming the only player in history to score a double century in both ODI and Test cricket. His Test career saw him score 13,289 runs and take 292 wickets.

5. Inzamam-ul-Haq

Inzamam-ul-Haq was a former cricketer who played for Pakistan. He was a highly talented batsman and was the leading run scorer in Pakistan's one-day internationals, as well as being their third highest Test scorer.

He was born into a Syed Sunni Muslim family in Multan, Punjab, Pakistan. He was a prominent member of the Tablighi Jamaat, an Islamic missionary organisation.

6. David Warner

David Warner is one of the most explosive openers in modern cricket. He made his international debut back in 2009 and became the first Australian player to be selected for a national team without having played a single first-class match.

He has destroyed bowling attacks across all three formats of the game and is one of Australia’s most consistent batsmen. The ball-tampering incident in 2018 was his darkest moment, but he has since rediscovered his form.

7. Shahid Afridi

Shahid Afridi has scored over 8,000 runs in ODI cricket. He is the fourth Pakistani batsman to reach this milestone.

Afridi began his career as a bowler yet soon gained more credit with the bat. Having a penchant for quickish leg breaks, googlies or conventional off-breaks, Afridi quickly became a lethal weapon in white-ball cricket.

8. Babar Azam

Pakistan's ODI skipper Babar Azam is a top-order batsman who has made a lot of headlines with his outstanding form. He has scored 17 hundreds and 24 fifties in his eight-year career.

The 28-year-old is on track to challenge India's Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar for most runs in ODI cricket. But he'll have to overcome age as Kohli and Tendulkar have more matches under their belts than him.

9. Shahid Khan

Shahid Khan, who is also known as "Shad", came to the United States at the age of 16 with nothing and he began washing dishes. He later graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

He is the owner of Flex-N-Gate, one of America's largest automotive components manufacturers. He also owns the Jacksonville Jaguars of the NFL and English Football League Championship team Fulham F.C.

10. Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh is one of India’s most successful spinners in both Tests and ODIs. He is India’s most prolific off-spinner with a record of taking 366 wickets in 34 matches.

Throughout his career, he has enjoyed tremendous success with Mumbai Indians. He led them to the Champions League trophy in 2011 and was also a crucial part of their maiden IPL title win.
